Raphael Goldman graduated in 2003 from the University of Michigan with a J.D. and a Masters of Public Policy.  He received an Order of the Coif and was an Associate Editor on the Michigan Law Review.  While in law school, Raphael wrote a textbook about the legal and political history of capital punishment in the United States.

After graduating, Raphael clerked for one year for United States District Judge William W Schwarzer, who sat by designation with various Circuit Courts of Appeals.  During 2005 and 2006, Raphael was as an associate at Topel & Goodman in San Francisco.  During his career, Raphael has focused on careful legal research and persuasive legal writing—while working with Judge Schwarzer on his appellate caseload, he learned by experience the types of arguments judges find convincing, and has put that knowledge to use in advocating on behalf of his clients.

Raphael works closely with the other members of the ACH team to employ his legal research and writing talents for ACH’s clients.  He has crafted and argued motions in numerous felony and misdemeanor cases in both federal and state court, including in a high-profile political corruption prosecution, a case involving an alleged violation of the Commodities Exchange Act, and other felony cases.  Raphael brings keen intelligence, brilliant legal analysis and exceptional writing skills to the ACH team.
